Pain
Most people are terrified of pain. It brings up feelings of powerlessness, fear and worry. We just want it to go away because it stops us in our tracks, usually affecting our usual routine. This just makes us angrier and more frustrated, adding to the laundry list of feelings we are already experiencing.

Pain
Most people are terrified of pain. It brings up feelings of powerlessness, fear and worry. We just want it to go away because it stops us in our tracks, usually affecting our usual routine. This just makes us angrier and more frustrated, adding to the laundry list of feelings we are already experiencing. Did you know that the brain actually forms pain conduits that keeps the pain going (even after the experience has long gone) until we pay attention to the message? Our usual way of paying attention is to reach for the quick fix of a pill or invasive surgeries/procedures to make the pain stop and achieve the ultimate goal which is to feel good again. This approach can often be used as a band aid for what is deeper.
Pain from a recent traumatic incident like a broken bone or surgical procedure is a different story, but even then, we know it will take time to heal and what actually does the healing is the body. In Dr. Sams' 17 years plus of practicing, she has found a direct link to trauma (past or present), unfelt emotions/feelings and patterns that are not needed anymore, manifesting in our bodies as blocks to flow, in other words pain, to actually help us know we can let go of something that doesn't fit who we have evolved to be. Communication is key internally with our bodies constantly dialoguing on what is needed to live, repair and grow. Do you think that this amazing communication is limited to helping us on the inside only? Movement is essential, shown in the necessity of our blood, lymph, air and all systems constantly moving and refreshing to maintain vitality/balance. Our nervous systems are the key to working on that deeper level to form new information pathways that can restore movement and thus begin to alleviate the pain.
The patients who work best with Dr. Sams are ones who wish to be on a journey to experience how amazing our bodies are and to experience you as an active/crucial part of healing. If you want someone to "fix" you, she is probably not a good fit. What you are experiencing will not be ignored nor downplayed, but hopefully realized in a different light that accentuates the healing process in a positive way. Your body heals on a different timeline than what we want, so the biggest pieces to bring are curiosity, patience and a willingness to learn!
